Kaufman County HC 2011 Schedule of Events
In 2011 Kaufman residents and visitors will have various opportunities to participate in events where they will learn about the history and archeology of the county.

Oct. 8, Sixth Annual “Ghosts of Kaufman County Past” Historical Ghost Walk, 7–11 p.m. Sponsored by Kaufman CHC. The event features a candlelit tour, with re-enactors portraying characters from the county’s early years. Admission: $10. Kaufman County Poor Farm, 3600 S. Houston St. (Hwy. 34 and FM 1388).
Oct. 22, Kaufman Scarecrow Festival Exhibit, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. A booth at this annual festival salutes Texas Archeology Month. Information about area artifacts, sites, and related topics will be available and artifact collections will be on display. In addition, an archeology steward will identify artifacts brought in by the public. Free. Kaufman County Courthouse Square.
Oct. 25, Kaufman County Hay Show and Auction Exhibit, 5–9 p.m. Sponsored by TexasAgri Extension. A table exhibit at this county event will offer information related to Texas Archeology Month, artifact collections, and local sites. Free. Kaufman County Fairgrounds, Hwy. 34 S.
Nov. 19, Children’s Living History Day Fair, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Step back in time and learn the history of the Kaufman County Poor Farm and the great people of Kaufman County’s past. Participate in hands-on demonstrations, view historical exhibits, and enjoy craft activities and games. There will be food and old-time, fun activities for everyone. Admission: $3. Kaufman County Poor Farm, 3600 S. Houston St. (Hwy. 34 and FM 1388).
