We are excited to share the site of the brand new 12,560-square-foot Kaufman County Pet Animal Adoption Center. Kaufman County began planning for a regional shelter and adoption center in 2018 due to the rapid growth of the County and the need for a facility large enough to serve the demands efficiently and safely. Our goal for a new facility included welcoming more visitors and volunteers, increasing adoption rates and educating pet owners about caring for their animals.

Dog 2Kaufman County's new Pet Adoption Center has space for 66 dogs and 58 cats with room for future growth. To promote the health and wellbeing of animals and employees, the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system will utilize 100% fresh air with 12 to 16 air exchanges per hour in the animals' rooms, while preventing air transferring from room to room to minimize the risk of disease transmission. Natural daylighting will maintain animal circadian rhythms and decrease stress-related illness. The indoor/outdoor adoptable and isolation kennels will encourage healthy activity. A get-to-know room and courtyard as well as a cat playroom with a climbing wall allow social interaction and assure compatibility for new owners and their pets. All of this makes this center a beautiful, state-of-the-art, "no kill" pet adoption center.

The Pet Adoption Center is operated under contract by the Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT). To see the animals available for adoption, or to learn more, please see the HSNT website and the Kaufman County Pet Adoption Center website.
