SUMMARY:

This position performs general custodial work, including cleaning, caring for County buildings and premises, and maintaining custodial equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties represent the principal job duties; however, they are not all-inclusive.)

Maintains the cleanliness of all assigned County buildings by performing custodial functions such as sweeping and mopping.
Clean and maintain different types of floors. (e.g., tile, hardwood, concrete)
Floor Preparation: Prepare floors for cleaning machine operation by sweeping and/or vacuuming debris.
Operating Floor Machines: proficiently operate and maintain various floor cleaning machines, including automatic floor scrubbers, buffers, and polishers.
Carpet Care: vacuum carpets and rugs thoroughly. Spot clean spills and stains. May be required to operate carpet extractors for deep cleaning.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on cleaning equipment.
Empties trash containers in all locations and disposes of them by taking them to the dumpsters from the buildings as needed.
Performs daily restroom maintenance to include thoroughly sanitizing toilets, washing and disinfecting basins, countertops, and walls, replenishing toiletry supplies in the restrooms, and applying cleaning chemicals as appropriate.
Cleans and dusts office furniture, walls, baseboards, windows, and countertops in designated work areas.
Cleans and sanitizes kitchen areas within offices.
Sanitizes doors, door handles, light switches, and public drinking fountains.
Sweeps staircases, sanitizes, and polishes handrails as needed.
Ensures adherence to safe work practices and procedures and reports unsafe conditions.
Works as part of a team and maintains a cooperative, helpful attitude towards fellow workers, supervisors, and the public.
Maintains confidentiality and security of all courthouse property, information, and systems.
Performs related work or duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably with proficiency in operating floor machinery. The ability to safely and effectively use floor scrubbers, buffers, and polishes is preferred. Must be able to follow both oral and written instructions. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness are essential.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (Any combination of education and experience that would provide qualifying knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in the position.)

High school diploma (or GED certificate) preferred.
Experience working in maintenance or a related field preferred.

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Road & Bridge Foreman and Commissioner, this position performs tasks associated with road and bridge maintenance and construction. Duties include a variety of maintenance activities, including loading, hauling, and performance of skilled truck & equipment inspection, maintenance, and repair tasks. The employee is required to be on duty before, during, and after natural disasters and emergencies, as directed by the supervisor.

About Kaufman County Road & Bridge:

Kaufman County has an opportunity for Class I with our Road & Bridge sub-division. This position aims to perform routine maintenance in the county rights-of-way and provide quality ditch drainage. Employees must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including county safety standards. As an essential employee, you will assist with emergencies (i.e., flooding, ice storm, etc.).

The Road and Bridge Department’s mission is to offer a responsive public service while executing high maintenance on roads, bridges, hikes, bike trails, and county rights-of-way to improve mobility and the quality of life for the constituents’ precinct.

There are four precincts in Kaufman County. The four elected Commissioners and an elected County Judge serve as members of the Kaufman County Commissioners Court, the Administrative Head of the county’s government.

Repair of potholes, sinkholes, and street curbs
Set flags and barricades for traffic control.
Safely direct traffic through work or construction sites for long periods, flaggers.

Performs routine service and maintenance. Use chainsaws to cut and remove brush and debris from streets, rights of way, and alleys.
Performs daily safety inspections of assigned equipment before and after use.
Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as deemed necessary for certain locations.
Attends work on a continuous and regular basis.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
Operate a mower or seaweed rake to remove grass from roads and rights of way or debris from roadways.
Use shovels, rakes, and other maintenance equipment as directed.

SUMMARY:

This position will prosecute misdemeanors and certain low-level felony offenses in the Courts-at-Law and Class C misdemeanors in the Justice of Peace Courts. Works under immediate supervision and performs entry-level legal work throughout all phases of prosecution from filing by law enforcement agencies through final disposition. Formulation, justification, and communication of plea offers in criminal cases.
Works with judges, court staff, law enforcement officers, defense attorneys, pro se defendants (when permissible by law), victims, witnesses, and office staff in the preparation and prosecution of criminal litigation.
Performance of necessary legal research.
