County Celebrates CR 243 Road Completion

Kaufman County celebrated the second in a series of ribbon cutting ceremonies in Precinct 3 on Tuesday, December 21 for County Road 243 that is a part of the $104 million 2019 bond projects for transportation. This 4.4-mile road connects SH 205 to CR 249 and serves as a vital route for residents and businesses along the route. This project is a prime example of public/private partnerships. The cost of the project was approximately $1.9 million and Terrell Sand & Recycling contributed approximately $250,000 to add an extra inch of asphalt to the surface to support the truck traffic generated by the business.

The first ribbon cutting for Precinct 3 projects was held on Thursday, December 9 at Colquitt Road and Samuels Road just north of Terrell.

Guest speakers at both events included Judge Hal Richards, Commissioner Terry Barber, Terrell Mayor Rick Carmona and Terrell Chamber President Carlton Tidwell.
