Veterans Day Activities


Please take time to honor the Veterans in your life. A special Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at the Kaufman County Veterans Memorial Park located at 3800 S. Houston St. in Kaufman at 4:30 p.m. Passive park activities will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the official ceremony honoring Veterans will begin at 4:30 p.m.

This year’s feature event will be the lighting of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and the unveiling to the MIA/POW Chair that will become a permanent memorial to all Veterans who did not make it back home.

The top three winners of the Kaufman County High School Essay Contest will also be announced. This competition involved writing a 500 word essay about “What a Veteran Is To Me.” There were over 32 entries and the top three winners will receive cash prizes donated by the American Legion Post 165 in Kaufman, TX.

Food trucks will be on site to purchase an array of food, and the park will be open for all to enjoy prior to the start of the ceremony. Please bring your family and friends to honor all Veterans on their special day.
