DUE TO COVID 19 THE KAUFMAN COUNTY DISTRICT CLERKS PASSPORT OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

The Kaufman County Passport Office has to consider travel restrictions and processing times found on the U.S. Department of State website. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and ask for your patience as we safely work to begin passport services.

Information and Pricing

  • Passport applications are accepted Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m at the Kaufman County District Clerks Office located at Kaufman County Courthouse, 2nd Floor, 100 W. Mulberry, Kaufman, Texas 75142.
  • We do not schedule appointments; walk-ins only.
  • All applicants must be present.
  • Passports are valid for 10 years for adults, and 5 years for children under 16.

WHAT TO BRING:

  1. Application for a U.S Passport, Form DS-11, available in our office or online at U.S Passports and International Travel
  2. Valid Photo ID, i.e. driver license, state identification card, military id. An additional form of identification will be required if this is an out-of-state ID.
  3. Original, Certified Copy of your Birth Certificate, or Naturalization Certificate. Texas Birth Certificates: Must be the “long-form.” If you have the short abstract form, it must have the letter “I” printed after the file date to be acceptable. California Birth Certificates: Must be the “long-form” and not the abstract.
  4. One Xerox copy of the front and back of the above-mentioned birth certificate.
  5. Passport Photo taken by a professional passport rated camera.
    Photo must be clear and in focus with a white background; front view, full face, taken in normal street attire. No hats or dark glasses.
  6. Check or Money Order made payable to the “US Dept of State” for the amount of the passport (see below)
  7. $35 Cash, Check,  or Money Order for the service fee.

PASSPORT CARDS: (For use of travel by Land and Sea only, you cannot fly with the card)

For ages 16 and up: $65.00

For ages 15 and under: S40.00

BOOK AND CARD COMBINED:

For ages 16 and up: $175.00

EXPEDITED SERVICE

  • To expedite your application there is an additional $60.00 fee payable to the U.S Department of State.

PROCESSING TIME:

  • Normal process time is 4-6 weeks from the day the Department of State receives the application.
  • Process time with expedited service is 2 weeks from the day the Department of State receives the application.
