Crime Victims' Compensation Program

In 1979, the Texas Legislature passed the Crime Victims' Compensation Act, creating the Compensation to Victims of Crime Fund and the Crime Victims' Compensation (CVC) Program. The primary purpose of the Fund is encouraging greater victim participation in the apprehension and prosecution of criminals and reimbursing innocent victims for certain out-of-pocket expenses incurred as a result of violent crime.

You may contact the Crime Victims' Compensation Division at 800-983-9933 or 512-936-1200 or through their website. If you are a victim of a pending case with the Criminal District Attorney's Office, please contact our Victims' Assistance Coordinator at 469-376-4764.

Contact the Crime Victim's Compensation Program for more information regarding the program including eligibility requirements, maximum recovery amounts, reporting the offense and filing an application.
